The Best Western Hotel Krone is a beautiful "Old Town Hotel" with family atmosphere and comfortable rooms, stylishly decorated, well equipped and friendly. Situated right in the heart of Lucerne, at the historical Weinmarkt Square, probably Lucerne's prettiest square, an early 15th century space that's finished off with a lovely fountain. And you're right in the middle of the shopping and pedestrian zone.
Despite the lushly baroque facade of this middle-bracket hotel, its bedrooms are simple, well organized, and contemporary looking. This is the result of a radical renovation in the early 1990s that ripped apart the interior of the five-story building. The Hotel Krone is solidly positioned on one of the city's most charming medieval squares, in a neighborhood that shows off Lucerne's architectural personality. Bedrooms in back are slightly bigger than those overlooking the Weinmarkt in front, which have better views and a more intense sense of history. Each unit comes with a neatly kept private bathroom; the third floor is for nonsmoking guests. Don't expect a deeply entrenched sense of luxury, or even a particularly large or opulent-looking lobby: In this case, the space was devoted instead to accommodations. No alcohol is served within the hotel, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants within a short walk.
